Farewell Message of Ambassador Ayda Ünlü

Ambassador Ayda Ünlü 28.06.2022

Having completed my tenure as Ambassador of Türkiye to
Cambodia, I am about to leave Phnom Penh and will return home to Türkiye.

It has been my distinct honor to represent the
Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish people, as the first Turkish female ambassador
to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

I visited almost every province in across the country
despite the pandemic, and I felt welcome in every corner of the Kingdom I
visited, and was humbled by both the beauty of Cambodia and the friendly
character of her citizens. I had the chance to meet so many fascinating people,
and built true friendships.

Now, I am leaving Cambodia knowing that the
relationship between the two countries is even stronger than it has ever been.
Together with the Embassy team, and with the support of Cambodian authorities,
friends, and the local community, we were able to further strengthen our relations between Türkiye and Cambodia with goals
of building mutual understanding and strong ties between peoples of two
countries, while promoting common interests. In line with this understanding,
Samdech
Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of
Cambodia paid a visit to Türkiye in 2018, whereasH.E. Prak Sokhonn,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation paid official visits to Türkiye for three times. These visits have
been followed by other Ministerial and high-level visits which underpin our
many successful shared efforts to enchance our countries’ mutual friendship. As
a happy coincidence, my second year here, 2019, marked the sixtieth anniversary
of the establishment of our bilateral diplomatic relations. Additionally, the establishment
of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ankara in October 2020 relies as a
concrete indicator of well-developed relations between our two countries.

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA),
Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and Diyanet
Foundation, along with other Turkish stakeholders, continue building up the
bridges between our nations, throughout the project they have been carrying out
in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The last two years witnessed dramatic and
unprecedented challenges in the world. In the wake of pandemic, I am grateful
for the resilient efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia to maintain
public health and extending vaccination campaign for the corps diplomatique
, including my Embassy.

I believe that Türkiye and Cambodia will remain true
friends. And our relationship will continue to produce concrete results for our
peoples.

Nothing would have been possible without the support
of Turkish Embassy team. I would like to thank each and every one of them for
their tireless efforts, dedication and hard work.

I wish to extend my deep appreciation to all Cambodian
officials from various Ministries and institutions, notably the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, my counterparts, the Dean and
colleagues in the corps diplomatique.

I will always carry Cambodia in my heart and remain a
friend of this beautiful country and her friendly people.

Long live Turkish-Cambodian friendship!

Farewell and Best Wishes,

Ayda ÜNLÜ
